The Children’s Fresh Air Farm, a ministry of Independent Presbyterian Church since 1923, covers 36 acres with class and meeting space, a dining hall, a chapel, a gym, a swimming pool, gardens, a pavilion, playgrounds, ball fields, and hiking trails. The summer learning program has been the primary ministry of the Farm since 2010.The program serves third, fourth, and fifth grade students who attend Hayes K-8 and are alumni of our STAIR program. Eighty children attend the six week program. They receive daily classroom instruction from certified teachers and a variety of enrichment activities designed to encourage interest and to supplement learning. These activities include Chapel, swimming, physical education, gardening, music, science, and art. On Fridays the students take educational field trips.
The program addresses other challenges including nutritional deficiencies, physical safety, and low self-esteem.
